Manifest SEO Services Search Engine Optimization Wed, 24 Nov 2010 22:59:37 +0000 en hourly 1 Product Development – What You Need to Know For a Successful Creation Thu, 01 Jul 2010 22:05:02 +0000 SEOMatt For those who own a business that sells products, it is well known that product development can at times end with a hit or miss result. If a business is lucky, they will develop a product that works as it’s intended to, gets good reviews from the public and sells well. But what do you do if the products aren’t becoming as successful as you would like? Or worse yet, what do you when there are several delays in developing your products and your product development team just can’t seem to get the job done right?

If your business always finds that there is a feeling of frustration when it comes to product development  , then a new study has been found that proves there are better ways than others to achieve successful product development. In this study, over 300 employees from 28 different companies in the United States and Europe were surveyed regarding successful product development. In the end, the notable results proved that developing successful products mostly relies on common sense and simple business tactics. However, as the economy struggles and businesses are busy concentrating on other things, common sense can often be forgotten about.

It is often heard that people need to set goals personally and professionally and it’s no different when it comes to successful product development. When developing products, you should define clear goals from start to finish. By setting goals, everyone on the team will easily be able to see when things need to get done and how things need to get done. Setting goals is also a great way to keep your product development team focused and on track. The scope of the project should also stay on the same path so that everyone is working towards the same end result. This does not mean that you and your team cannot be creative and think outside of the box, but you should not make any drastic changes to the product during the process. If you start changing the scope of the project,  it will be very simple for your team to want to give up and become discouraged.

Along the same lines of goals and focusing on the scope of the project, it seems as though well performing companies ensure that team members can dedicate an adequate amount of time to developing the product. Companies and employees that did not perform well regarding product development mentioned that team member’s time was spread too thin. In the companies that were surveyed, the ones that performed well, the projects were adequately staffed and team members were not being bounced around between different projects.

As mentioned, most of these tips are common sense and simple to implement in your product development process. A few simple changes in how a business team works together can make all of the difference between ending up with a high performing product or one that needs changed over and over again just to see a little profit.

In today’s economy, it is helpful to know what business tactic trends companies are implementing in order to achieve their goals.

5 Reasons You Should Use A Blog Thu, 17 Jun 2010 13:47:04 +0000 SEOMatt It is becoming more common but the big question I get when talking to people is “Why use a blog?”.

Off the top of my head I can think of 5 major reasons.

A blog is:

•    Easy to update
•    Easy to get started
•    Liked by the search engines
•    Creating feeds automatically
•    Allows people to interact with you

Before I start let me take just a minute to define the term blog. The following is quoted from Dr. Mani one of the earliest marketers to embrace blogs.

“A blog is short for “web log” a sort of online personal diary where “anyone” can reveal his/her innermost thoughts, feelings, desires, dreams, ambitions, fears, hopes … you get the meaning.

Yes, it’s a website. With one small difference. It lists posts ordered by date in a personal journal format, and is easier to create than a website – just involves typing into a form and pushing the PUBLISH button”

The ease of push button publishing of most blog platforms make them one of the easiest web sites to update. On most platforms you don’t need to know HTML though it does help. If you can create a word document you can update a blog.

They are extremely easy to get started. Blogger and Word Press both can be started without much more than creating an account and clicking a few choices. Now there are huge advantages to hosting your blog on your own domain. But even there if you have cpanel hosting with Fantastico it is an almost fill in the blank process to get started. No great technical skills needed.

Search engines like blogs. They are usually updated regularly because it is easy. Compare the type and push a button to update of the average blog platform to creating an HTML page uploading it either through the control panel or FTP. Much easier so it happens much more often. Blogs tend to have fresher content.

The search engines also like the RSS feeds that are created. Properly used feeds can allow you to generate links from other authoritative sites such as Technorati, Feedburner and others. These high PR sites create backlinks to your site which will make the search engines rate you higher. People can easily subscribe to your feed and know when you have updated your site through various RSS readers.

Finally, the biggest advantage is that blogs can be interactive. Most blog platforms allow your reader to comment on what you have written.

This does two very good things for you. You get additional updated content (which the search engines like) and you get feedback on what you have written.  Which are you more likely to do? Click a comment link and leave your input on a blog or try and find a way to contact the average webmaster. Even if you do it is usually through a form or email that does not increase the content of the site.

A blog definitely gets my vote. What about you?

The Good and Bad of Pay Per Click Click Advertising Thu, 17 Jun 2010 13:47:01 +0000 SEOMatt Over the past 10 years, the World wide web has revolutionized the way that individuals do business. While large corporations have a significant business presence on the Web, the nature of the World wide web allows small business to compete on equal footing. Amazon may have a famous Website, but there is nothing to prevent Bob Smith from opening a competing web site called BobSmithsBooks. With the World wide web, there is room for everyone to do business.

Having a presence on the World wide web hardly guarantees success in business, however. In order to make sales, you have to have visitors to your website. Drawing visitors, or “Web traffic“, is probably the greatest problem that most Website owners face when putting their business online. One can market a business making use of conventional offline methods, such as magazines or television, but most Website owners might prefer to try to attract visitors that are already on the World wide web. For drawing customers who are already on the Internet, there may not be a more suitable or faster technique of obtaining traffic than pay per click advertising.

Pay per click, or PPC advertising, is an advertising technique where businesses can purchase advertising space with the major search engines. When someone does a search using Google, for example, paid advertising appears right alongside the free search results that Google provides. Advertisers bid for top placement on these pages by bidding on the search terms themselves. They pay the search engines each time a visitor clicks on the link in one of the ads. Depending on the search topic, the bids may vary from as little as a couple of cents to as much as $100 for each click.

There are a number of advantages to making use of pay per click advertising over other media:

The results are fast. With Google’s AdWords, advertisers can produce their ad and have it shown to customers in as little as five minutes. No other advertising medium offers the opportunity to have ads shown to the public that quickly.

The advertiser chooses the price. Advertisers bid on the price they are willing to pay. This allows advertisers with modest budgets to still have their ads shown next to the ads of businesses with deeper pockets.

Advertisers can set daily, weekly, or monthly budgets. You can limit your spending to the amount that you can afford. If you possibly can merely afford to spend $100 for each month on advertising, you can decide if the ads are to be shown all at once or spread out over the day, week or month.

The advantages of pay per click advertising are obvious. You can occasionally have visitors in a few minutes and you can spend as little or as much cash as you like.

There are a few potential problems with pay per click advertising, though:

The market is competitive. Prices vary widely in addition to diverse search terms. If you’re bidding on terms that are especially competitive, you may find that you will be forced to pay a number of dollars for each click when your spending plan may only allow a couple of pennies. If fifty advertisers all outbid you, your ads may be shown on a page where few people will see them.

Not all search terms produce good results. You may find yourself bidding on terms that bring visitors to your web site but don’t produce sales. Pay per click advertisers need to carefully monitor the performance of their ads to make sure that the terms they are bidding on generate both traffic and sales.

While the pay for every click advertising model is quite effective, it can in addition provide a great opportunity to spend a number of cash on advertising without a lot to show for it. Anyone who is thinking about trying their hand at PPC advertising should probably start with a modest daily budget and be willing to engage in a number of experimentation in order to find the ads and search terms that work best.

Should you be Co-Branding? Tue, 01 Jun 2010 21:34:08 +0000 SEOMatt Online co-branding can be a little complicated.  If an Internet user clicks on a link on your website and is taken to a web page that has a different brand or company it can get a bit confusing.  They will wonder why they have been directed to an entirely different web page with unrelated content.  When it comes to co-branding you need to take partnerships that have something in common with the product or service that you’re selling. Co-branding can be very cost effective, especially for small online businesses. However, if you choose the wrong partner, or too many partners, it might be more harmful than beneficial.

Adding Partners to your Website

As a small business you need to be cautious with your marketing budget. When you add a partner to your website you need to make sure that you’re going to see powerful and positive results from the union. These positive results can include more traffic to your website, increased online sales, or more contact with your customers. Online branding can be costly so be sure to choose partners that can benefit your business.

Co-branding is known by a variety of definitions that include:

  • Joint promotions
  • Value endorsements
  • Joint ventures
  • Alliances

Co-branding works best when both you and your partner company each provide a related service or product to the same types of customers.

Guidelines for Co-branding:  If you have the right partner you can split the costs of marketing as well as enhance your company brand. You’ll also have admittance to a larger customer database.  next are some important co-branding guidelines:

  • What does your co-brand partnership say to your customers?  Will it make your customers feel better about themselves?
  • What do you and your partner have in common?  Are both of your products innovative?  Are they dependable?  You want to make sure that your image makes sense for your current customer base.  You don’t want to lose your current customer base but rather you want to build on it.
  • How does your co-branding partnership benefit your customers?  Will it save them money?  Or will it save them time?  Your marketing campaign should make the benefit very clear to your customers.
  • Your goal with co-branding should be to find the best solutions for your customers.
  • There should be an equal value for both brands in the partnership. You need to have an equal partnership or your marketing strategy will be uneven.
  • Will your customers easily be able to recognize the connection and value of your partnership?
  • Does the co-branding partnership bring you into contact with additional customers?

The above guidelines need to be considered before you join in a co-branding partnership. Joint promotions take a great deal of time and planning to be implemented correctly.  However, when done correctly and accurately, a co-branding partnership can bring you results that are far better than other traditional online marketing methods.

Integrating Partnership Products

Co-branding that is successful never has your customers confused about what website they are on. Partnerships should improve a customer’s shopping experience by helping them to make buying decisions. You’ll want to exchange content with your partner so that you both expand your expertise in the industry. However, you’ll need to incorporate this content into your website so that it flows naturally and fits in with your own content.Complementary Partners:  Your website will be more legitimate and competitive when you have co-branding content that is well integrated into your own web pages. Co-branding will only help your business if it complements the business goals you have defined for your company. Always keep your business goals in mind no matter what online marketing strategy you’re trying to build into your business. This means that all your website content, promotions, and activities with your co-branding partners encourages your customers to follow through with the sales action.

Get Noticed With Google Keyword Research Tue, 01 Jun 2010 21:34:03 +0000 SEOMatt The most vital ways to generate site traffic from Google is to apply a keyword tool just like  Google AdWords Keyword Research; used properly and together with several organic targeted traffic development at the same time these techniques should provide adequate leverage to deliver the best amount of traffic. But whatever technique you select to use you will still require beneficial  Google keyword research.

To be able to explain appropriately; organic listings are the websites shown on the left side of the page in answer to the given keyword or keyword phrase. Several factors contribute to the ranking of each website, despite the fact that Google continues to be fairly secretive regarding the different criteria, but there are specific characteristics that many of the top search results for any particular keyword share.

Domain age is essential; the older the website the more trust awarded by Google. The greater inlinks to the website, the higher it ranks. Good authority inlinks are also popular critical elements. Also, relevant on-page SEO; the website should display page content connected to the keyword submitted by the searcher. Achieving a well ranked site can be challenging specially when utilizing competitive text so choose them properly, maybe pick those with low competition. Google keyword research is the key and there are no cost programs to help, however, most of them will be incapable to find the hidden goldmine of small competition but well searched keyword phrases. Provided your page is optimized for its contained keywords your website will have traffic and become favorably indexed.

The right hand part of the page is set aside for paid for ads; in this spot anyone can buy advertisements from Google, you just bid on words you think will be famous then build an advertisement, when a search is started for that keyword producing a click on your advertisement you pay Google the amount of money that you bid for that certain keyword. Whilst Google AdWords is probably the most basic methods to produce traffic it can demonstrate expensive; clicks on the more competitive words can be pricey because a lot of fully commercial businesses use this technique.

Veteran advertisers are well aware of exactly which are the most lucrative, having dumped the ones which were costing money rather than earning it through a process of learning from mistakes. It is sad but clear that the majority of money can be invested unnecessarily bidding on extremely competitive words or by bidding on some people that get clicks but don’t succeed to convert into revenue. Within Google AdWords there are resources that will help you to discover keywords which you may not have considered that not only get a good search rate, but possess little competition and will for this reason cost fewer.

To stay away from staying at the mercy of the time consuming trial and error process when looking for the best phrases you can always get help from Google by using their keyword research software. A few of the  Google Keyword Research software is awesome and will actually enable you to grab, with complete legality; the most profitable phrases form your competitors therefore letting you bid on low cost but highly profitable keywords.

5 Key Steps You Must Have In Your Website Promotion Plan Fri, 28 May 2010 20:31:51 +0000 SEOMatt Visit any internet marketing forum on the web and you’ll usually find a couple of posts from people bemoaning the fact that they have been submitting articles to article directories to promote their website yet have only a dribble of traffic to their site.

When you read further, you find that these people have submitted only a handful of articles and have done nothing else in the way of promotion.

While this method used to work many year ago, I’m sorry to tell you that in todays market, it’s simply not enough to submit just 5 or 10 articles to promote your site!

To get a stream of traffic to your website, you need to do a lot more. More articles, more links to your articles and more types of promotion aside from articles.

The bad news is that this can be very time consuming, the good news is that if done properly, you will build a flood of traffic to your site that keeps coming for years even when you scale down your promotional efforts.

Stop Being A Wimp And Turn Your Trickle Of Traffic Into A Flood

If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you’ve also not been seeing the success you want from your promotional efforts.

Don’t feel bad though, it can be frustrating to plug away day after day and not see much progress. That coupled with the fact that you see ads for IM products every day which make you believe you can get a flood of traffic in 24 hours . . . well, it’s no wonder you are discouraged!

What you need to succeed in website promotion is a plan.

Not only that, but you need to commit to your plan and stick to it even when it seems like it is not working. Believe me, follow through is critical and if you stop halfway you will never reap the traffic rewards you seek.

Here are some of the things that you should include in your website promotion plan:

1. Keyword research — this is critical because if you target the wrong keywords you will never see traffic. Some big keyword research mistakes include targeting keywords that are too competitive and targeting keywords that do not get enough traffic.

2. Social Bookmarking — Instead of submitting to hundreds of sites, pick 4 or 5 big sites and develop a relationship there. Bookmark your website content and all your articles as well as articles and websites from other people that you find of interest.

3. Distribute Articles — Instead of sending articles to every directory on the internet, pick a couple of the best ones and submit your article there. How many articles are enough? I’d say 30 — 50 to start, but the more the merrier!

4. Get links to your articles — It’s not enough to just submit them, you’ve got to link to them too. How do you do that? By social bookmarking and other articles!

5. Contribute To Blogs — You want a varied website promotion strategy so in addition to writing articles, you will also want to contribute to the top blogs in your niche. You can do this by guest blogging as well as leaving quality comments on the existing posts.

Are you starting to see the picture that getting traffic to your website or blog takes time and effort?

Don’t worry though, all your time and effort will pay off big time! At first you might only get a little traffic, but as you keep at it, the traffic will build and build. Eventually you’ll be able to slow down your promotional efforts and still enjoy massive traffic to your site! You can find out more about getting traffic to your website at Website Promotion Blueprint where you will find tips on getting the right kinds of back links as well as real life case studies that will help you get your website ranked and bringing in free targeted traffic. ]]> 0 Internet Marketing Consultants – What You Should Look Out For Tue, 25 May 2010 23:25:37 +0000 SEOMatt Advertising is one of the important marketing tools. Advertising has many facets; advertising through print media, through electronic media like television and the latest in the series is through the media of Internet. In fact, studies have shown that advertising through the Internet has increased by many folds.

The coverage the product gets through the Internet is much more than any other media. Therefore, more and more traders are turning to the web to introduce their products and business. One problem is that effectiveness of the advertisement through the Internet media depends on how effectively it is crafted.  Marketing through the Internet requires proper design of the website. This designing and the art of marketing needs the help of a professional consultant. But, before appointing the consultants, the trader should satisfy himself on the following points:

The Consultant must learn about your business:
The work of Internet Marketing Consultants is to introduce the product on the Internet. That would mean that he should understand about the particular product. So, the trader must be informed of all relevant facts about the product. This niche is extremely important. Apart from knowing the product, the consultant must understand the business also. Without understanding the intricacies of the business, he cannot be effective in marketing.

Must understand the market:
This may call for market research and market analysis. This gives an insight into consumers’ response and that will be a vital clue for optimization of the website. In fact, this information will help to make effective keywords, appropriately linking the HTML, graphics etc.

Effective contents:
Effective keyword design is an important quality expected of the consultant. The keywords must be such that it attracts the clients.  He should also decide the density of the keywords. He has to ensure that the contents are not duplicated. The language used in the content is another important point to be looked into. In fact, some consultants may take the help of some professional content writers as and when required. The ultimate aim should be such that the website reaches the target and gets maximum of positive clicks.

No black hat SEOs:
The consultant should not adopt unethical means to increase the traffic. He must understand that such black hat SEO is against the rules and it certainly violates the law. He must also be aware of PR sites, forums, social book marking and top blogs so that every aspect of the website is as per the agreement between the parties and it is in conformity with the law.
Regular feedback:
The consultant must regularly monitor the website traffic, and the positive clicks. Improvement is a continuous process. But, improvement can be made only after studying the past and what lies ahead in the future. The consultant makes this assessment only in consultation with the trader. With this, the consultant can be creative and he can put the SEO on the right track.

Assess the remuneration:
The consultant’s fee should be decided carefully after estimating the response to the SEO. The fee should be commensurate with the positive clicks that the trader gets. If it is not so, then the very purpose of appointing the SEO consultant will be defeated.

Cooperation is Key for Success Wed, 03 Mar 2010 22:09:24 +0000 catherine “Every kind of peaceful cooperation among men is primarily based on mutual trust and only secondarily on institutions such as courts of justice and police”
Albert Einstein

Cooperation between co-workers is so refreshing when everyone pulls together as a team.  I think we take it for granted at Manifest SEO the way we communicate and collaborate in our office.  Cooperation is a mind set and each person that makes up the team needs to buy into the team spirit.

To foster a cooperative atmosphere in the office, set the example that it is OK to accept responsibility if everything doesn’t turn out exactly as planned.  You want to encourage your employees to think outside of the box and not be afraid to voice their opinions or ideas.  Brainstorming is a great team building, creative experience that encourages cooperation.  Even when things don’t work out perfectly, let your employees know that you appreciate their efforts.  Ask productive questions to find solutions they could do differently the next time without placing blame.

Especially in the field of SEO, new programs, new methods, and new ideas are mandatory.  This is a cutting edge industry with little guidance from books or schools, so everyone needs to be encouraged to take on new frontiers without fear of repercussions from their team mates or boss.

Employees that are not afraid to voice their opinion are so much happier, and therefore productive.  It’s a win-win situation when you have confident, happy, cooperative employees that encourage each other to reach new levels of success due to their effective communication.

Compassion Makes You Stronger Thu, 25 Feb 2010 23:17:17 +0000 catherine “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
Dalai Lama

Compassion can build a thriving workplace because compassion is outwardly directed and encourages less preoccupation with self centeredness.  Practicing compassion with your co-workers contributes to personal, team and organizational success.  When people feel cared for, they are able to care for others, which instills a positive environment where people are encouraged to be creative and supported.

Just recently, here at ManifestSEO, we had a proposal deadline that had to be done in twenty four hours.  In the middle of the proposal, a co-worker had to go home seriously ill.  We were one man down, and we needed to check in on him to make sure he was OK.  Although this was going to interfere with meeting our deadline, it was more important for us to take care of our co-worker than the proposal.  With this show of support, and with one man down, we were still able to get the proposal done on time because we pulled together as a team and had an added amount of energy to complete the task at hand.  We also set the example that people are our most important asset.

To show compassion in the work place, there are several actions you can practice on a daily basis:

Listen Empathetically:  We are trained in school to be good speakers, but we are not trained to be good listeners, which is equally as important.  Active, genuine listening is vital as well as taking a moment at the end of a conversation to allow the other person to add something they have forgotten.   A lot of us daydream or start thinking of our response before the person has finished speaking, thereby not listening carefully, which is conveyed in your responses or body language.  Make sure you are genuinely listening.  There are a lot of good listening articles out there to help improve your listening skills.

Be Curious:  Be curious about your co-workers and ask questions in regards to their personal being, or a project they are working on you know is important to them.  People like to talk about themselves, so asking some deeper questions other than, “How are you today?” makes people feel interesting.  In their responses, make sure you are actively listening.  It’s fun to hear about other people’s lives and you may learn something!

Have Respect:  Showing respect for others make others respect you.  Listening happens to be one of the greatest manifestations of respect, so here is yet another reason to become a better listener.  No doubt, there are times when it is trying to practice respect, however, rather than making a remark you may regret later, ask the speaker a question that could lead to answer you may better understand.

Practicing compassion is a trait that will benefit others as much as it benefits yourself.  After all, we spend a good portion of our lives at the work place, why not make it the best experience we can, for ourselves and for others.

Mexico Holiday Loves the Yucatan Peninsula Mon, 22 Feb 2010 22:23:54 +0000 catherine Falling in love with a place, rather than a person, isn’t something I thought would ever happen to me.  It kind of snuck up on me, the way love does, until one day it struck me, like lightening, that I was in love with the Yucatan Peninsula.  I loved it so much, I decided I didn’t want to only spend two weeks a year here, if it was a good year.   I wanted to live here, and only spend two weeks a year in the states.

So my husband and I put our house on the market, sold everything we owned in 2007, and moved to Tulum, Mexico.   We were jumping in with both feet, not knowing exactly what we were getting into, but allowing the universe to present itself to us.

The universe has presented us turquoise waters, star filled skies with the sounds of the ocean, sandy white beaches, nesting sea turtles, full moon parties with local talent, the freshest most delicious food I have ever eaten, tropical drinks, open sandals, loose light clothing, and sleeping with open windows that bring in the breeze you were hoping for, like a sign.  A sign this is the right place to be, at the right time.

The folks at The Turquoise Reef Group, Chuck and Mary Anne, have been in the Yucatan Peninsula for over 25 years, making endearing relationships with small cabana owners, and promoting this beautiful landscape.  They are intimately involved with the locals and can make tour suggestions with people they personally know.  They even have a local representative in Tulum to help make sure your vacation is everything you hoped it would be.  If you need help deciding on Playa Del Carmen hotels or your looking for another great Playa Del Carmen travel deal, Chuck and Mary Anne at Mexico Holiday are the best sources your could choose.
