Vocus Webinar on leveraging social media

Wow what a great informative virtual conference yesterday. I learned a lot! The most interesting portion was definitely the discussion on the Social Media Release by Brian Solis and the discussion he and Deirdre Breakenridge did on “putting the public back in public relations“. I’ve ordered the book from Amazon and I can’t wait to read it.

This is a brand new marketplace and I’m excited about implementing these new social strategies for my clients and measuring the results. The social media release is groundbreaking stuff and Brian’s teachings on tagging videos, pictures and HTML correctly in the release to attract searchers starving for content is extraordinary. I’m going to be digging into his blog this weekend and doing some more research. I love the community building ideas and being a resource for people all across the global web. We are heading into a new day and age and pioneers like Brian and Deirdre are paving the road. It really is about listening, understanding, contributing to conversations and eventually climbing the ladder towards being an influencer and a creator.

Consulting for small companies, creating the sense of urgency will be easy, creating a cross functioning coalition and allocating manpower will be the tough part since many web businesses wear so many hats already. My main focus will be harboring the vision and laying down the strategy for the firms I work with in an effort to empower my clients in understanding that this is a huge new marketplace and effectively leveraging and contributing to the web community is the wave of the future and SEO rankings tie directly into that gained popularity. The efforts remain the same, it’s the tools and mechanisms that are changing drastically. I look forward to studying and learning more…if your not learning your dying! Thanks to all the speakers yesterday…I have a lot of work to do! Happy FRIDAY!
